Hi All,

The company I work for want to send me to audit a company that cans our product. They were recently taken oven and my Manager wants to make sure they are following our quality procedures etc. I am due to do an auditing course in October but this audit will be in 2 weeks. Can anyone offer me advice on what I should be looking for as I am going around the plant, audit template, questions to ask etc.

Hi Zappy !

Doesn´t sound too difficult... your "checklist" should be based on the quality procedures that you have supplied them (I assume they have them since your seem to be requiring them to follow them). The questions should be based on the requirements they are subject to.

Plan your visit based on the time you are allowing taking into consideration the size of the plant and the amount of procedures you want to be checking on.

Good Luck !

Hi Zappy,

Think about the factors in your suppliers process that are critical to your product. What would happen if the cans weren't correctly sealed? Could there be any contamination of the product? Is temperature critical to your product? How do they ensure your stock is rotated correctly?

When you have compiled a list of what could go wrong, what controls would you expect to see in your suppliers processes to protect your product?

Are there any special terms and conditions in your contract with the supplier? Ensure that these are being adhered to.

Have you provided any specifications for your supplier to work to? Is there any testing required? Ensure that they are being satisfactorily controlled.

Without specific details of the product and processes, I can't help any further, but if you think along the lines above, you won't go far wrong.
