View Full Version : Quality Objectives for the product 7.1 a)

Does anyone have an example of a quality objective for a product when you do not have design authority?

7.1 a) states that "In planning product realization, the organization shall determine quality objectives and requirements for the product."

I am trying to conduct an internal audit and I don't really understand what kind of quality objective would be set for a product.
Our company doesn't do design which is one reason I considered that a product objective would be applicable, e.g., Supply power to the PDB.

Could a product objective possibly be: to build the product in 180 days, have a rework rate of <1 %, or the answer I got was to have all the appropriate tooling required to build this product and ship it to the customer on time?:frust:

1st, get out of 7.1, that's just low hanging fruit and can only be achieved when the other requirements in Section 7 and part of Section 5 among others are met.

You need to be down in 7.2.1 and 5.4.1

Well as for 5.4.1. our company has established 2 objectives for our company, 100% delivery and 100% quality product... I know kind of a cop out, huh? But that's what they have decided.

As for 7.2.1 that appears to be all requirements related to the product. Are the terms "quality objectives" and "requirements" refering to the same thing in this case (7.1 a)? Because we are determining all of the "requirements" for the product during the planning. We just haven't set specific objectives for the product.

To me objectives are more of a measurable goal. Am I off?

You're not off....objectives have to be measureable.

Objectives related to Product will evolve out of the planning process, 7.2.1 & 7.2.2, and will be directly liked to 8.2.3 & 8.2.4. Many times the objectives will be specified within customer requirements and the planning/productivity goals necessary for product realization.
