View Full Version : IQA Audit Nonconformance - Documented requirements don't reflect current practice

Hi
i have a peculiar situation that in the quality manual there is a column that raw material and product stocks will be maintained to suitable levels, which we wont do as raw material will be supplied by customers it self and we produce only that much as ordered, so it was put not complying

in this situation whether it is to be treated as a non compliance and to be mentioned in audit report or not, auditor just left the comment that due to the nature of business they are not stocking any products or rawmaterials as they are supplied by customers it self.

please take me out from confusion!

If your documented requirements don't reflect current practice, they should be changed.

I agree with Jim. If there's no intention of maintaining the stock levels, remove the requirement.

There's nothing wrong with calling it a nonconformity in the report - it clearly is. If you want it to be changed, include in the audit report. If it isn't in the report, there's a chance that it won't be addressed.

Thanks for the reply, ok if i change the requirement in quality manual then is it to be treated as amendment or revision as i have to mention those if i i do any.
This is the first year of ISO9001:2000 hence all of the confusions are getting arrived.

Yes, just make a revision to the manual. Since the change affects the requirements, the revision level would have to change.

thanks for reply, you mean placing issue 2 as the present one is issue 1, so there is no need to put in amendments, the reason i asked for is that we have a table for amendments which is asking for column no. and the issues changed and the reason for change etc.

thanks

Just one other quick thought...

Why can't "suitable levels" be none in your case? Maybe it's not so much a non-conformity as an opportunity for improvement?

Yes. If the current version is Issue 1, then it will become Issue 2 and the table of amendments should be updated.

I agree with Yodon. In your raw material and finished goods inventory records you can put in a clause "No suitable levels specified at present". I wonder why such a requirement was included in your quality manual in the first place if the supplies and stocks are customer-dependent. In any case with the above endorsement you do not have to bother about making any amendments/revisions or issue changes in the manual.

Any doubts?
