View Full Version : Are TS 16949 Audits Getting Easier?

Has anyone else noticed that TS audits are getting less and less detailed?

Could this be an attempt by the registrars (or individual auditors) to re level the global playing field?

During our last TS audit, we spent a lot of time discussing the off shore competition we are facing, and our auditor told us horror stories about the state of compliance auditing seen by their off shore branches.

I wonder are the multinational registrars trying to give us the same break some others seem to be getting?

What are you seeing? Easier, same, harder TS audits?

I only have one data point, so I can draw no conclusions.

Hi Caster,

Has anyone else noticed that TS audits are getting less and less detailed?

- I haven't noticed that TS audits are getting less because when we were audited June this year, we have 5 Minor NC & Several observations. I think this will depend and question the competency of our auditors...

- For us, its Harder TS Audits....

As an auditor I have not had any instructions "to be easier" and rather we are constantly being informed of issues that arose at witness audits and corrective actions that we need to perform.

Maybe its you and have improved:applause:

Was that discussion included in the scope of the audit (for which you paid)?....;)

I wouldn't say audits are getting easier, but I would say that it seems as if auditors are being asked to cover more during their audits, but to use the same amount of audit days.
In my field we process steel, which we both heat treat and paint.
Since we supply Ford, GM and Chrysler we are required to complete both the CQI-9 and CQI-12 special assessments. Chrysler also requires the Elements of Manufacturing Basics self assessment.
Our regristrar has asked their auditors to review all of these surveys, and any associated corrective action, as a part of every audit.
Maybe this doesn't necessarily make the audits "easier", but I think that they may not necessarily be auditing as deep as they could.

Absolutely not. I agree with Howard - if anything, the oversight organization I deal with is getting tougher on us as auditors. Could it be that your auditor is getting too comfortable with your organization? Time to cycle in a new audit team?

I hope it's just that your organization is getting better...

I can not tell You whether it is easier, same or harder but I'm wondering how international and very famous CB was able to certified some companies (I have examples for 5 6 companies throughout Europe).

There was another story I have listen from a auditor:
In Europe some companies are not using their country base CB but the east-Europe subsidiary company as it is cheaper and easier, on the certification the CB name is the same

One of my friend asked to a far east supplier which certification he had got. The answer
was "nothing at the moment but tell me what you need". after 3 months the supplier came back with ISO 9001 and ISO TS certification:lmao::bonk:
