View Full Version : Any good reference books for Design of Experiments? amanbhai 29th September 2008, 07:45 AM I appriciate if anybody share the statistical design of experiment book with me? :thanks: Stijloor 29th September 2008, 07:55 AM I appreciate if anybody share the statistical design of experiment book with me? :thanks: Look at this post + attachment DOE: Choosing a Design - Factors that affect the choice of design (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showpost.php?p=148709&postcount=1) from our Fellow Cover Tim Folkerts. Tim's excellent paper on DOE contains a bibliography. Stijloor. Miner 29th September 2008, 07:57 AM I recommend Design and Analysis of Experiments by Douglas Montgomery, and Statistics for Experimenters by Box, Hunter and Hunter The latter is easier to read, but the former is the best known. Stijloor 29th September 2008, 08:08 AM Friends, Here is the list from Tim Folkerts' paper: References: Steven S. Prevette, “Systems Thinking” in “Multiple Choice: What’s The Best Quality System?” Quality Progress, July, 2003 NIST/SEMATECH e-Handbook of Statistical Methods, http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handbook/. Douglas C. Montgomery, Design and Analysis of Experiments, 6th Ed., John Wiley and Sons, 2005 George E. P. Box, J. Stuart Hunter, William G. Hunter, Statistics for Experimenters: Design, Innovation, and Discovery , 2nd Edition ., John Wiley and Sons, 2005 Genichi Taguchi, Subir Chowdhury, and Yuin Wu, Taguchi's Quality Engineering Handbook, ., John Wiley and Sons, 2005 Willy Vandenbrande “Design of Experiments for Dummies,” Quality Progess, April, 2005 Stijloor. Bev D 29th September 2008, 08:13 AM It depends on what you need experiments for. if primarily for problem solving, you woudl benefit from books that deal with how to determine the proper factors and levels as well as experimental structure and analysis. in this case I recommend 2 books to start: Statistical Engineering: An Algorithm for Reducing Variation in Manufacturing Processes by Stefan H. Steiner and R. Jock Mackay and Process Quality Control: Troubleshooting And Interpretation of Data by Ellis R. Ott, Edward G. Schilling, and Dean V. Neubauer if you are looking to use DOE for improving designs or optimizing processes then I would recommend: Understanding Industrial Experimentation by Donald J. Wheeler RSM Simplified: Optimizing Processes Using Response Surface Methods for Design of Experiments by Mark J. Anderson and Patric J. Whitcomb and the montgomery book mentioned above. these are good starts. Coury Ferguson 29th September 2008, 08:25 AM Here are some Books available from ASQ: Design of Experiment Books (http://www.asq.org/quality-press/search-results/index.html?page=category&category=14aaaDesign%20of%20Experiments) D.Scott 29th September 2008, 08:48 AM I find "Understanding Industrial Experimentation" by Donald J. Wheeler very understandable and useful. Dave amanbhai 30th September 2008, 12:07 AM I appriciate all the fellow covers for assisstance. Dr. L. Ramakrishnan 2nd October 2008, 03:09 AM HI I was exposed to Design of Experiments by Keki R. Bhote about 12 years ago; I found the book and the training by Keki R. Bhote very interesting and useful. With kind regards, Ramakrishnan Bev D 2nd October 2008, 11:45 AM HI I was exposed to Design of Experiments by Keki R. Bhote about 12 years ago; I found the book and the training by Keki R. Bhote very interesting and useful. With kind regards, Ramakrishnan this is a decent book on problem solving DOEs. But I've found Steiner & MacKay's Statistical Engineering book to be even better. They have a lot more detail and are better at the subleties and nuances that are very important in Problem solving investigations. |
