I just was informed by a former boss (who is a great person) that he is looking for a mechanical inspector for incoming component inspection). I will know a little more about this position tomorrow but I know enough about it to tell you a few things to let you consider if you would be interested.
The company is a manufacturer of large water pumps for construction, public works, mining, and other applications. The really good news is - it's in sunny East Central Florida, maybe 6 or 7 miles from the beach!
It would require a few years expereince in reading mechanical drawings, use of basic hand measurement tools (mics, calipers, and such, and the most frequently used instrument is actually a tape rule), Very basic understanding of GD&T and AWS weld symbols, and a decent command of MS Office. Also, the person hired will be trained in and occasionally assist with performance testing of the pumps. The job would involve some heavy lifting and working part of the time outside.
I will know a little more about the position tomorrow. I would be somewhat surprised if we have any Covers who would not be ridiculously overqualified for this job, but a) I could be wrong and b) one of you might know someone with just the right skill set and this heads up could give you the chance to either get your resume ready or encourage someone else to do so.
Like I said, I'll have more information tomorrow
I'll post more when I get more information.
Regards -John
