I have written complaints procedures for ISO 9001 that also works for ISO 17020. However, there is another requirement for Appeals procedure.
Now, my question would be what does it mean by Appeals procedures and what shall we include, do we need to include claims in Appeals? What would be ingreidents of the Appeals procedures. Help is highly appriciated. :thanks:

Are you asking about ISO 17021? I haven't heard about ISO 17020, but I would like to.

Thanks Stijloor. I have learned something.
Amanbhai,
I guess now my question is why are you tailoring your procedures around a Certification Body requirement?

Amanbhai,

I am not tailoring my procedures around certification body requirements.
Infact, ISO/IEC 17020 is the General criteria for Various types of inspection bodies.
We are actually an inspection company, we do alot of types of inspections. Now our management is ambitious to get accreditation of ISO 17020.
My role is to discuss the requirements of the standard with top management and formulate a procedures for my organization.
But before I discuss things with the top management, I need to understand the requirements thoroughly.
Now, I am little confused about the Appeals procedure. I need assistance from fellow covers. :thanks:

The appeals procedure and policy is designed so that if the organizations being inspected does not like the results of the inspection, they can appeal. This is especially important if the ISO/IEC 17020 is in support of ISO Guide 65, but applies regardless. This is different than complaints, where the customer may complain they don't like the tie the assessor was wearing, this deals with the results of the inspection itself.
You truly should seek training in ISO/IEC 17020. There is training coming up, it is this upcoming week so very short notice, but many if not all your questions can be answered there.
