I have just received my copies of Q10013 and A8402. Q10013 provides clear and straightforward advice which, as Jake Hodges says, will probably make a good checklist. As for it's annexes, which show a theoretical implementation, bah. The prototypical format is clearly designed to satisfy auditors, but is equally clearly not actually used by ISO/ASQ.

I note with a certain amount of puzzlement, why do Q10013's annexes describe a manual which in no way relates to the form or format of an actual ISO/ASQ manual? I answer myself, because the prototypical manual format is designed, it appears to me, to be wrong from the start - and then, at the instigation of auditors, to be fixed. Yet the actual ISO/ASQ manuals are intended to be correct and letter-perfect from the start, and when revised, reviewed and updated en toto, not one page or part at a time.
