I have to make a quality improvement plan and present it to a customer. They are "asking" that we use DST-PDCA and/or CAP-Do. I'm not familiar with either of these tools, although I think they are Honda-based. The customer is a Honda supplier. Apparently they are better tools than the traditional PDCA, which I'm familiar with.

they aren't better - they are just new names for a different organization of the same old same old.
CAP-Do is "bottom up" and DST-PDSA is "top down" ask the supplier fro details of exactly what they wan to see.

Thanks!!
I asked... the Quality Manager seems to feel that I should already know all this. I didn't get very much information. This particular person can be very difficult to work with. I can't say anything nice, so I'll leave it at that.
She gave us the impression that DST-PDCA and CAP-Do are better but couldn't explain why. I don't know if it's because she wants us to learn or because she doesn't understand it herself. The real fun comes when I go back to present this in 6 weeks - no matter how good the plans and presentation are, she will not like it and will rip it to shreds. It's what she does.

Bekki,
Some "research" revealed this:
DST = Draw-See-Think (Plan)
"However another alternative approach can also be used. It is known as the Draw-See-Think-Plan procedures. "Draw" creates the desired image and achievements. "See" evaluates current situation and detects gaps between ideal situation and current situation. "Think" develops specific actions that must be done to bridge the gaps between ideal situation and current situation. "Plan" lists down required resources for the execution of activities."
CAPDO is a model developed by Dr. Noriaki Kano based on the PDCA (Deming or Shewhart) cycle.
Instead, it follow this sequence: Check-Act-Plan-Do.
Look here (http://curiouscat.com/management/pdsa.cfm) and here (http://curiouscat.com/management/dictionary.cfm) for some info.
Look at page 24 in this presentation (http://216.171.160.55/documents/Stat%20Thinking%20-%20Section%20Dinner%20Meeting.pdf).
Hope this helps a little.
