Was wondering if anyone could look at this IMDS structure for a part we supply and tell me how I can get it to go through. The error I get is "Different types of nodes used on the same level. "

I understand I cannot have a component (clinch stud) on the same level as a material(s) (ms66, zinc plate). However, my clinch stud supplier sent me his IMDS as a component.

I have a pretty rudimentry understanding of this system. The only solution I can think of is to create my own clinch stud as a material and add all the substances.

Has anyone looked at this yet, and have any comments or recommendations?

Hi Neil,

You can add another level of tree by creating a component and adding your Materials Ms-66 and Zinc plating. Then you call the stud which is a vendor part or purchased part or supplier part supplied by your supplier. Please find the proposed tree structure for your informations.

Let me provide you one of the example for tree structure. Assume you are manufacturing Mounting Assembly to mount the product to Chasis. This Mounting assembly consist of two sub components, Flange and Fasteners required to mount. Here Fasteners is purchase part which is supplied by your supplier, while Flange is inhouse product. During the creation of IMDS for Mounting Assembly you need to create two subcomponents (Flange and Fastener). Here you will call Fastener from your supplier and Flange from your inhouse in order to complete the Mounting Assembly.
