View Full Version : Time Based Inspection Data Analysis

Hi all,

Although I have completed many analysis of data in my time, I have been presented with data that is a little different than I have dealt with before.

I have data related to final inspection yield (i.e. % that pass inspection 1st time). Normally, it is quite simple. However, in my case, due to actions that have taken place I am forced to group data by time periods (currently 2 week time periods).

Can I analyze this the same as if I was dealing with inequal data sample sizes? (i.e. one time period may have 20 inspection results, the next 10, the next 25, etc depending on production levels during that time).

If not, what else can I use to ensure accurate analysis? Any help appreciated.:)

It sounds like the p-chart control chart would be of use here. That does vary the standard deviation versus the sample size.
