we have acquired another company and are manufacturing their products at our site now, but still under their name. What is the best way to: a) answer their customer requests for the quality surveys? b) fold this new (but very very similar) product line into our iso9001:2008 system, even though they are being sold as a different company? i'm confused thanks, Gd

There are a few ways to handle this, but first let me ask...did this company have ISO registration before you purchased it? Is it now a division of your company? A wholly owned subsidiary? As far as answering the customers' requrests for information, that kind of depends upon answering the above first.

Scenarios:
If they are already certified they could change their information to update and continue to operate as is.
They could adopt your system, change whatever they need to and get their own certification.
They could be registered as a part of your company (there are some registrars' representatives that can give you a more complete answer)

they have never had ISO9001 certification, they had 17025 accred but we have decided not to pursue that as far as the second question: we are all owner by a larger parent company, but i really dont know the exact answer thank you, GD

Your friendly neighborhood registrar sales rep should be more than happy to work with you and then quote on some of the potential scenarios. The overall registration costs may impact the decision on how to proceed.

I recognize that this isn't helpful, but:

I'd think that someone in management might have thought of this question before the merger went forward.

:lmao:quality management system plans before the fact? Unfortunately, I think that is probably an exception rather than the rule.

Just take it as a complement that they feel you can make this happen and move forward. Best of luck.:agree:
