hi

we are a government Department and we are under process to implement ISO:9001:2000 and EFQM model.. does any one see any relation between the two? and do we need to implement both of them to be an excellent department?
note: its compulsory for all Government Departments to implement the EFQM model..

how to overcome any duplication, overdoing of the same work in both models? some shared standards between ISO and EFQM do exist.. thank u

Go to the search function and key in 'EFQM' (search for titles only). There are at least 18 threads there and some of your answers are found therein.

I suggest that you don't treat either as a "model" for a management system- 9001 is a list of requirements, and EFQM is a self assessment tool. Both require you to manage your processes, so understanding, defining and improving your processes ("how you run the Department") is the key. The "enablers" in EFQM are the policies, resources etc you need for the processes to function, and the "Results" are how you assess how efficient and effective you are.
