Hi,
In the Team Feasibility commitment form given in the APQP book, appendix E,
there is one question that I don't understand :
"Does the design allow the use of efficient material handling techniques ?"
Can anybody explain me what is the meaning of efficient material handling techniques ?
Thank you for your help,
Valérie

In section 2.13 Team feasibility commitment and management support it states that "The team must be satisfied that the proposed design can be manufactured, assembled, tested, packaged and delivered in sufficient quantity, at an acceptable cost to the customer on schedule." (Emphasis mine)

This covers the packaging or stillage design and you should be reviewing such things as nesting of parts for the best utilisation of space, loading and unloading of parts from the packaging, the footprint and stacking of the packaging for forktruck use and storage, the optimisation of transportation and the required quantity of packaging to provide for WIP at your plant, the customer site and parts in transit.
