I have been practicing lean for 3 years now and got the bulk of it down, but I still use basic methods of time an motion studies. Does anyone have an automated excel sheet that could make this easier? I have seen some great tools out there but they all cost to much.

ie ww.acsco.com/?gclid=COr_u-mEtJkCFYMwpAodSlPR4w

I am looking fo somthing that I could download to my IPAQ and take to the floor and conduct it right there and then.

Hello, and welcome to the Cove!:bigwave:

I am curious.. in the link you provided, are you trying to promote that product? Or, are you trying to find a product similar to it in Excel?

Is that the product that costs too much?

Hi BradM, Thanks for the welcome

1stly I am in no way shape or form trying to sell the product, I personally believe the product is good but I just can not afford the $1000US+ they are charging (plus it is a bit over priced). I can sell ice to Eskimos, sand to the Middle East and so forth but at the moment my place of work is so squeezed for cash they would not even contemplate a purchase. That leaves me, I just don’t have that kind of cash (plus I too am trying to conserve cash).

I am good with excel, but I don’t at this time have the capability to create a time and motion file that is quick and easy to use and don’t have the time to invest in myself at this point (currently studding Mechanical eng at night & working full time)

I hope that explains my situation.

I am trying to find a simple time and motion excel sheet that I can load to and from my PDA. I have found the data collection part of the exercise to be extremely time consuming and want to minimize this waste. I have a lot of thoughts if someone has the skills and would like to help.

I can offer assistance/guidance in lean implementation from shop floor to senior management if anyone can help

What kind of data are you collecting? Are they not just direct entries into a spreadsheet?

Also, I have a Palm and love it. But.. I don't know if I would want to sit and enter a lot of data into it over a period of time.:tg:

Have you checked out the attachments here at the Cove? At the top of the web page there is a green box marked "post attachments list". You can go there, perform a search, and see if there is anything already designed to meet your needs. Otherwise, if you want, you can explain what you are trying to do in Excel, and we may be able to help you build something to your liking.:)

Also, here is a thread with a developed spreadsheet. I'm not sure if it will be of help, but at least it's a start:
