View Full Version : Test equipment for resistance welded wire/rebar

We resistance weld rebar for the concrete industry. The diameter of the wire can be 1/8" to 5/8". We torque test with a torque wrench but weld 2 plates to the socket that have hooks in them which grab the wire on each side of the weld.

We have a machine which is computer driven to test the tensil strength of wire and to test the weld shear. We perform periodic checks of the welds at the machine with the wrench.

We have a scale for #'s to torque the weld to. Is there another device or instrument that would be better than modifying a tool which is a safety no-no?

Recommendations anyone?

I was afraid of this. There has to be something out there to test wire that has been resistance welded but I've been unable to find anything so far.

What we do wors but we modify a socket head to do this and safety is complaining....
