Next year my company will undergo a "re-certification" audit with our ISO/TS 16949 registrar. How different is a re-certification audit from a surveillance audit?
Thanks,
David

That depends on your registrar. In my experience, re-certification is comparable to your initial certification. The surveillance audits focus on specific topics while the re-certification audit is a total system audit.

David,
The scope of a surveillance audit is on particular processes of the quality management system (QMS). The scope of the re-certification audit includes all processes of your QMS. Your Registrar (CB) will provide you with an audit plan + schedule.
If you have maintained (and improved) your QMS, you do not have to worry.

Exactly. I'm actually doing a TS recertification audit this week. :bigwave: You'll have a new auditor or audit team, and all processes and requirements will be covered. The amount of time required for the audit is a bit less than the initial stage 2 audit.
