Just wondering what is the preferred method of doing this. We are using Dye Penetrant now, but it is very time consuming. We are considering x-ray, but maybe there are others reliable ways?
We are inspecting forgings for fissures, currently we cannot do dye penetrant until the part is polished, which incurs quite a bit of cost and additional work for us. The part is a grab handle, and the inspection surfaces are the mounting pads on both ends. (top and base).

Ultrasonic might be a choice. You wouldn't need to polish them before the Ultrasonic testing, in my opinion.
