View Full Version : Detail info on CMMI - Capability Maturity Model Integration for Software Amit Mishra 26th May 2001, 03:21 AM Can i have to-the-point,specific and detailed information and links about CMM, venkat 11th March 2002, 06:18 AM Dear Sir Our organisation has been rcommended for ISO 9001:2000 certification. We woud like to go for CMM asssessment - level 5 nine months from now. IS there any restriction on time? Is there any rule or stipulation that we should go for level 4 and then level 5 ? If we want to go for level 4, is it possible within 6 months Can readers enlighten me on this Bruce Epstein 12th March 2002, 04:38 AM The correct site is Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (http://www.sei.cmu.edu) venkat 23rd May 2002, 08:08 AM Now that the CMM standards are changing to CMMI I would like to know the names of the persons involved in consulting and assessment for CMMI. I have checked the site - sei.cmm.edu and found only a couple of names in India who are authorised to do the consulting and assessment. May be the details are not updated. May I kindly request the forum members to post the names of other persons in India who does consulting and assessment for CMMI Marc 4th January 2005, 03:22 AM Does anyone know why the change was made from CMM to CMMI? Was this a 'confusion' issue or did some of the foundations or other aspects change? tomvehoski 4th January 2005, 09:21 AM CMM dealt only with software. CMMI includes the integration of software with system/hardware. Basically an increase in scope as I understand it. I've only been through some preliminary training on CMMI so far. I do see that it is highly redundant with some areas of ISO/QS/TS. There is a comparison document on the SEI website. If anyone is interested I can find the link. Tom Marc 4th January 2005, 09:34 AM Is CMM dead or do both CMM and CMMI co-exist? Sure - A link to a comparison source would be appreciated! Land, John W. Walz ISBN: 0-471-73849-2 Paperback 343 pages November 2005, Wiley-IEEE Computer Society Press US $89.95 http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471738492,subjectCd-EE16.html This book addresses the specific documentation requirements in support of the CMMI-SW® by providing detailed documentation guidance in the form of: * Detailed organizational policy examples. * An Integrated set of over 20 deployable document templates. * Examples of over 50 common work products required in support of assessment activities. * Examples of organizational delineation of process documentation. venkat 21st February 2006, 01:39 AM Though there are number of books the assessors are different and each has his/her own set of requirments and there is no uniformity. Moreover the small IT companies face the problem because the enormous documentation that needs to be prepared takes away most of the implementation time and instituionalise them. Infact the very purpose of ISO 9001:2000 was to remove the documentation that was required under the 1994 version. The need is to make the CMMI more simpler and pragmatic so that unwanted documentation can be curtailed. Marc 15th September 2006, 11:43 AM Does anyone have an ISO 9001 vs. CMMI comparison matrix in Excel? anitha.kuppuswamy 2nd April 2007, 06:42 AM hi sir, Is there any comparison between RUP and CMMI? if so how they interelated with each other? |
