al40,

I've attached the charter we use for DMAIC projects. With a little modification and removal of the logos, it might do the trick.

Can you secure a declaration from management that no one will ever lose their job because of a Kaizen improvement?

This became very important for us when we were able to reduce a work cell from 5 to 3 persons.

Caster,

No, we have no assurances, but we are a small company and there seems to be more trust than I've noticed in larger companies. In all cases where work cell personnel have been reduced, they have always had another place in the same department to go. Having said that...

We are now in a "special" situation with the economy. Our company's largest customers are "automotive", "heavy construction equipment", and "home air conditioning". We have won the "economic trifecta from hell". We have had large reductions in workforce, but none have been attributed to continuous improvement.

Even with the reductions, our salaried and hourly people, while concerned, are still embracing improvement activities. I like to think we are establishing a solid foundation on which to recover. Or, we're all just goofy!

Anyway, even without assurances, we still have trust that improvements will benefit all.

hi Caster!

technicaly, no one should loss thier job just by having improvements. it is the responsibility of the management/managers to them to look for another job, either to other dept's or sections.

just my 2 cents
