I have a query on Earned Value Calculation.
If I correctly understand the basis of EV is looking at %Completion of the task and finding how much you have actually earned.

However how to calculate earned value when you have moved forward, but the work from past timeslot is still incomplete and you have started work from next timeslot in parallel.

Say work is distributed over 4 weeks and at the end of Wk2 you have completed only 80% of the work allocated in Wk2. Now you move to Wk3 and at the end of it you have just completed say 50% from that week but past 80% from Wk2 remains at the same state. I am not sure what % Value to use now for EV caculation at the end of Wk3
Thanks.

Thanks.I agree this would be confusing to calculate earned value. I usually think of calculating value after the work is completed and has a chance to impact the customer for a defined period of time. I did a Google search and found a calculator for measuring earned value here (http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/CIS/course.des/cis525/js/f00/tejal/form.htm). I didn't try it out though.

Progress is easy enough to measure. This You Tube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW_wGSFavTc) does a nice job of instructing how to make a Gantt chart using Excel.
