Hi,
Does anyoneone have experience with Mio GPS navigation systems?
I saw them on sale at Radio Shack today. But I've never heard of the brand.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - I have a TomTom. I like it, but after a year the battery was shot and they're not easily replaced. And a software upgrade knocked out the Bluetooth. I wouldn't buy one again, but then again I don't know that all the others are any different. I will say it is my opinion that TomTom's customer service is terrible and definitely not customer friendly. It works with a cord in the car and does what I need, and I really rarely actually 'seriously' use it (I don't get out much), so I'm set.
The first question I would ask if I was in the market for one would be "Show me how easily I can replace the battery" and see what they say...

I think there was a thread already started about this. Love my Garmin (s) and they have great customer service! (in my experience)

I have a Garmin too, and no issues. I haven't needed customer service, and I don't know about battery replacement because the battery still works after ~3 years.

I have a Mio - nice. Works fine hooked to the car, but battery life for a walking tour always stank - only about an hour to 90 minutes.
As with all of them, you have to periodically update the map via internet.
Construction (unless you get the high end ones with bluetooth for real time updates) will ALWAYS foul you up just when you need to be on time.

Mio is owned by the company that recently purchased Magellan.
My experience with Magellan's customer service after they were purchased was unimaginably poor. Enter at your own risk. I will never go there again.
Sadly, there are many really good points about Magellan. There are some things about it that I prefer over the Garmin I just purchased because I need a GPS that includes European maps.
Overall, as I continue to get accustomed to the Garmin (I have only had it a week), I realize just how superior it is. Magellan and Garmin may have the same map vendor (NavTec), but the rest of the software is more than head and shoulders above Magellan.
