Wow. This is a win-win-win for everyone involved. Whoever came up with this idea really hit a grand slam.

I'm not sure if it was the same program, but there was something on one of the sat channels a week or so ago about prisoners training puppies/dogs. Win-win.

Yea, I'm not remembering where I saw a special either. There was a good perspective from the prisoners. They voluntarily signed up to work with the dogs, and thus were doing something they enjoyed. They were able to pick up some skills (training; working with animals), so there were a surprising number of them who went into the field when they were released.

I'm not at all surprised many would head into this field when leaving jail. They would find this thing they succeeded at, looks to have given them a sense of fulfilment, and could be far preferable to working with other people. Dogs provide very few head trips. If these guys wanted to leave their old lives behind, that also means leaving behind their "old people" like I did when I went into high school.
