I watched a series of classic TdF stages on Versus this afternoon showing Lance's tremendous performance in the mountain stages. Unless you have tried it yourself (climbing a hill on bike), you have no idea how extremely hard that is. This weekend I rode 87 miles in the mountains of North Carolina. I did pretty good; so today I rest. But these guys do this often, day after day, and no rest...

Who will keep up with the 2009 Tour de France? I will, to some degree. Vacation is imminent (next week), so I may have other things on my mind, but I will follow it given the opportunity.

I saw the final stage of the -96 tour in Paris, btw. That was when I first realized how big an event this really is.
