View Full Version : Keeping old ISO certificates of registration

I'm cleaning out my files and found some old ISO certificates of registration. I'll admit some of them don't bring happy memories ...

Is there any value on keeping these 5-10 yr old certs or would I be ok to discard? Thoughts??

To throw darts at? Or a ritual burning in the parking lot, late one night? Can't imagine why they'd be much use, unless someone likes to collect 'em.

My thoughts too...

Though maybe I should archive them? In case someone wants to do ... i dont' know... a retrospective of our certs? :notme:

I'm just afraid of someone asking me something like, when did you get certified, etc...

my ISO certs all state our initial certification date, even though we've had multiple re-cert (3 year) periods, so there is no doubt when we became registered initially. One thing that I have had happen is a change to a cert mid-cycle, the registrar asked me to either send back the obsolete cert, or send them a statement that they had been destroyed. I see no value in keeping them, but I am pretty ruthless with old paper.

Just scan 'em and file them. Don't keep the paper. I believe some burn with pretty colors because of the inks.....

They make good bookmarks. Or you can use 'em to line a cat litter tray.

Some registrars like to retrieve them 'to prevent them from being used'. If yours doesn't, do whatever you like with them.

The certs are "company property", so I would check with Top Management and see what they want to do with them.... unless you are the owner or Top managment, then I guess you decide !

I personally like to keep them and have them on display in our conference rooms...

no need for it for any thing

i think for improvement we minmize the documents so no need to archive document for this

unless if you need it as a refrence for your company history with quality
