Has anyone had any dealing with this company: isoinabox

I am considering becoming a franchise for them, but I would appreciate if anyone can tell me if they have any experience of the product or the company.

thanks

I don't know anything about them, but I didn't see anything on the website about franchise opportunities, and this bit on their FAQ page leads me to believe that their competence might be questionable:
Will we need to change our organisation’s systems? No. The ISO 9001:2008 standard wraps around your existing processes and specifically states that you should not change your working methods to become compliant. The rule is ‘Say what you do, then do what you say’. (Emphasis in the original)

I'd like to see the part of 9001:2008 that says you "...should not change your working methods..." and the "say-what-you-do" thing was abandoned by most people a long time ago.

I would be suspicious of any organization that doesn't know that there is no UKAS certification of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 or anything else the way they advertise it ...mainly because there is no such thing as a Guarantee like they advertise below...

If they are knowledgeable they should know that UKAS is an accreditation and not certification body. In fact their link to UKAS on their Homepage takes you to information about accredited certification bodies...Something is amiss here:confused:

Guaranteed ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 compliance
Simple to use
Working only to full UKAS certification
Runs on Microsoft Office for ease of use,
or now fully web-enabled
Continuous support
Integrates with your existing processes
Delivers immediate business improvements
The Complete Quality and/or Environmental Management System
Also available for OHSAS18001:2007 and many industry specific standards

Just looks like another "Shake-and-bake" to me...but what would I know?

Ummm.... Total Investment Required: £17,500.

Sounds like a database product like quite a few others that are out there.

Just the name scares me off. It sounds to me like canned procedures to "make you compliant" to ISO standards. As Dilbert's pointy-haired boss once said, "you can't spell compliance without 'liance'..."

In this day and age, with such technical inaccuracies (as Randy points out) plus the whole idea that it doesn't take any work, doesn't require any changes to the business, 'say what you do', etc. etc. All this would put me right off. If you are looking to franchise this outside of the UK, be aware that it's highly unlikely that the product has been customised to suit other countries use of the English language/culture etc. You might just be the first to have to deal with that........

Thanks guys

Very useful info

the cost of the franchise now has actually increased to £22500 + vat, and for that you'll get allocated an area

from speaking to them, I think they are more of sales people than quality people, even though they require the franchisee to be a lead auditor

Its just one of the things that I am looking at since I was made redundant from my last position a couple of months back

Gosh, that sounds like a lot of money - you'd have to sell a heck of a lot of whatever the product is in order to cover the original investment, plus make a decent living.

I'd be very wary of franchises without speaking to existing franchisees about their experiences (and the harder a franchise makes it to get to them, the more there is to worrry about, in my experience!). The main customers of franchises are... you guessed it, franchisees! They make money out of getting you to work for them.

Why don´t you "roll up your sleeves" and start your own business and own methods for helping organizations better their business practices? Some of the tools which you can use would be management systems (9k, 14K etc) but there are so many other business tools... take it a step further or higher for that matter...

This seems to me a steep price for just a tool kit and "permission" to use it as a consultant in a given area.

There are plenty of reasonably priced system templates available. A good consultant should be able to help a client choose the appropriate template to start off with, or better yet define and create their own system.

This looks like the equivalent of money making seminars. Their revenue source is reeling you in.

I have just looked at the website, like many other franchise opportunities you are selling their product. Do your market research into this product before you decide :notme:
