I'd like to know if you heard about Mars will be closer to Erath in August. They said the next recurrence of this will happen in the next 5,000 years.
If it's true, better mark your calendar and be part of history.

Sorry to say this particular hoax has been around for a few years - it resurfaces every summer.

Not to say that there isn't tons of cool stuff going on relative to Mars:

If you want to keep an eye on the planets for yourself and look ahead for any spectacular conjunctions or such I highly recommend this awesome freeware program : http://www.stellarium.org/ Its one of the best I have worked with - both as a lifelong amateur astronomer and as an astronomy teacher.

oooh! I used to love watching that guy on the PBS, Is he still on? They don't show it on VA or NC PBS. I cannot even remember the title, or the guy's name. But there was always something interesting to watch.

Seems to me that if you are on the Earth, regardless of the calendar, you'll be part of history anyway.

The show is Star Gazer, hosted by Jack Horkheimer. It's still on here.
