View Full Version : If you had to give up 1 of your 5 senses, which would it be?

Why did you choose that?

I chose taste.

I need sight - hard to read, watch tv, drive, cycle, take pictures without eyes.

I need hearing - love music

Without touch, I'd likely burn/freeze myself and not even know it.

Smell - 50/50 I might have picked this one too

And your point is?
To choose may be the hardest part. It becomes much harder when you know that all the choices are important.

All senses are important but since i have to choose one, I'll give up 'smell' because of too much air polution. better enjoy life without smelling air polution

I would have said common because I know so many people that don't have it, but since it wasn't on the list I chose smell. My nose is plugged up most of the time too.

I would give up taste. Were I to give up smell I'd also loose the taste of most things. Just think how bland things taste when you have a stuffed nose.

I chose smell. Since I will still have some taste (and the brain will likely over time rewire to obtain more information from the taste buds), I can live with the reduced taste while that happens.

I have a young daughter and need the rest of the senses to enjoy her exploits (like recently learning how to swim on her back and swim over 6 feet like that). She is only 4 people!

She is only 4 people!

How many people should she be?

I agree with brandomenon,
when i'm hungry...and i'm familiar with the food infront me...i dont have to taste it anymore, juz eat till full...but still need to use sense of feeling?

smell...umm..polution? i think i can use my sight to find the mask!

sometimes its hards to choose.....but i pray to God coz giving us tht 5 sense and we should grateful for it by not let our world poluted which in the end will make our sense lost its function!

Ah, the power of the 'comma (,)'. Reminds me of the phrase - hang him not let him go. The location of the comma is a life & death decision.

The idea of giving up 'smell' because there's too much pollution is faulty. It is precisely because there's too much pollution that you need 'smell' to help navigate you to safety.

Taste? Oh no, there's far too many wonderful things to taste and eat!

The brother of a friend has unfortunately lost his (and smell) after a life-threatening illness and operation. Eating and drinking fine wine were two of his greatest pleasure's in life: he's been very depressed ever since because they appear to be permanently lost to him. He's lost a lot of weight (no bad thing), but what a way to do it.
