View Full Version : Processes Map matching procedures?

Hi all

While completing the Main process map (the one considered in the quality manual), I faced several doubts

I´m attaching a file showing sample 1, sample2 and sample 3

The sample 1 showing process with the ISO clause number
The sample 2 showing mixed with/without clause reference
The sample 3 only showing the process name.

My questions are:

-In your opinion what is the recommendation to do this
for functionality and for ISO requirements?
-Do each process shown in the main process map must have
its related procedure?

Because I have seen a lot of processes maps (ones very detailed , others
in a very simple way. What should I do?.

I think that the Main Map could be simple and the one included in every procedure can be fully detailed.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Marc

ISO 9001 doesn't address the format of documentation. These days process maps are popular.

Out of your examples, I prefer #1, but there is a lot of 'personal preference' in process maps. To me the more details the better, such as procedure references and things like that.

Hi,

Marc is certainly correct - there is a lot of personal preference when it comes to process map formats.

I might suggest that it could depend on how it is to be used. If it is distributed as a hard copy, then I agree with Marc that having procedure references would make life easier when trying to navigate through the system to find what you need. On the other hand, our QMS runs on an intranet, so our main process map is very basic (ie, just the process name), but when you click on the "process" it takes you to the associated procedure or lower level process map.
