View Full Version : What is a Quality Engineering Department? What are the functions it handled? kedarg6500 6th August 2009, 02:40 AM what is meant by Quality Engineering Department? what are the functions it handles? Jim Wynne 6th August 2009, 11:59 AM what is meant by Quality Engineering Department? what are the functions it handles? The functions are dependent on what management expects, and will be different in different companies. In general, QEs deal with things like statistical analysis (SPC, MSA, DOE, etc.) and sometimes CMM programming/operation, inspection requirements and interface with customers on technical matters related to product quality. Jennifer Kirley 6th August 2009, 01:09 PM In the software industry the QA Engineer does analyst work, which rather resembles inspection but can include pointed insight on how to fix the problem. For that reason the software QA Engineer is expected to know the code of the product he/she is working on; the lines between QA and developmental engineering can blur more than some of us in manufacturing would feel comfortable with. kedarg6500 7th August 2009, 12:27 AM We have to establish Quality Engineering Department under Corporate Quality Assurance. (from the horse mouth) Harry you know that's too easy;) Asking the higher level what their expectations are will never work. Jim Wynne 7th August 2009, 10:50 AM Ask them for their expectations! (from the horse mouth) Although this strategy often entails contact with the opposite end of the horse, it's still the best way to go. :D dQApprentice 7th August 2009, 10:58 AM Harry you know that's too easy;) Asking the higher level what their expectations are will never work. What type of horse is your top management? Stallion requires careful management by knowledgeable handlers.:lmao: harry 7th August 2009, 11:31 AM Harry you know that's too easy;) Asking the higher level what their expectations are will never work. True. Table-turning does need sharp communication skills. At worst, you get no answers (or the rear end as Jim put it) but it is better than been seen as talking nonsense or not knowing anything. dQApprentice 7th August 2009, 11:52 AM True. To anybody who is dealing or who are afraid of dealing with their top management. By the way, when a post includes a quote, it means that the post is specifically in reply to it. Why do you ask that question? dQApprentice 7th August 2009, 12:27 PM when a post includes a quote, it means that the post is specifically in reply to it. I know that. I just clarified things. Why do you ask that question? Nothing |
