What are the Cover’s views about Investors in People (IiP) standard? Is it true that management/employers are against IiP? Why? What are the pros and cons?

I had never heard of an Investment in People "standard," and I'm not sure why this was posted in this particular forum, but a bit of Googling leads me to understand that the "standard" is the product of a UK consultancy firm that has developed a paradigm-shattering method of business improvement separating gullible people from their money.

I had never heard of it either, but I don't know I would go as far as what you said Jim. I mean it looks like there is a lot of common sense stuff there. Not sure about the different levels of achievment. But it does seem to be pushed by one particular company. Not really what I would call a "standard".

I remember a few years ago, the SAE pushed J-4000, as an auditable standard for lean. It really did not catch on too well, and kinda withered on the vine. Since it appears this company will reap the profits of the program, I really don't see it taking off.

Close, but it's actually the UK government which developed this particular method of separating publicity seeking organisations from their money.

I've never worked for an IIP registered firm so have no direct experience of the scheme but it is well known over here and popular with those who like to boast about their merits as an employer.

Thanks for the clarification. So this is an actual UK government standard? Who handles the registrations?

:topic: Here is the deal - Everyone here wants to help. That does not mean we're going to spoon feed you everything and/or reply within minutes. You are going to have to be a bit more diplomatic and understanding. Part of everyone's 'job', including yours, is to look at multiple sources, and that includes people who have questions.

We want to help, but we don't want to to be taken for granted.

Please do NOT reply to this post in this thread. If you want to discuss this, please PM me.

Thanks.
