I got a free trial, so I thought I'd try it. Right now I'm enroute between Salt Lake City and Detroit. It seems fast enough for general browsing, maybe I'll have to do a speed check...

Edit - here's the result

That's about like dialup speed, which isn't bad, considering. For comparison purposes, here's a test I just ran on my cable/wifi connection at home:

I've used the WiFi on VIA Rail (train system here in Canada). Due to satellite issues, it's currently free...when it works...

I've been on the train 4 times in the past 2 weeks and it's been operating about 50% of the time.

Apparently when the hotel advertises high speed Internet, they're comparing to dial-up. Here are the results for the hotel I'm in - about the same as the inflight Internet:

For some reason it thinks that I'm within 50 miles of Wichita, KS. I'm actually in Dulles, VA. It didn't do any better when I chose a server in Washington, DC though.

We are in the same time zone and suffering from the same "slow high-speed" hotel network syndrome:

I am in Charlotte, NC and the server accessed is in Wichita, KS....

My boarding pass for a flight from Atlanta to LAX Monday night said I would have internet access. We had an equipment upgrade from a 757 to a 767 and the replacement plane didn't have it. I was disappointed.

Maybe on another flight in the near future.

Bummer. Was this on Delta? Apparently they're still installing equipment, and there are quite a few planes that don't have Internet available yet. Also, commuter jets that I've been on have never had it.

Does anyone know what other airlines offer Internet access?

Well, I'm on the flight between Washington Dulles and Atlanta. Good thing I'm not trying to do any online gaming:
