Does anyone on the board know much about the impending legislation in CA and VT regarding content in plumbing components?
In CA it's AB 1953 (http://http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/05-06/bill/asm/ab_1951-2000/ab_1953_cfa_20060818_134053_sen_floor.html)
What I have is that they are redefining "Lead Free" from 8% and 4% on ceratin components to less than .25% on these components.
My issue is that I have a customer asking what we're doing about this for our brass parts (ASTM B16 - up to 3.7% lead) ...
well... it looks to me like this bill is all about drinking water.
Our components are used by this customer in gas applications... the concerned end user is a soft drink maker who uses our parts in thier CO2 system, which is injected into the drink.
The big question is are we exempt in this application?
(Yes - I am calling the customer for clarification, but bringing up the topic here for awareness/discussion)
