I am requesting information on the requirements for retaining a PPAP master sample. My specific question is do you need to retain only a finished part or do you need to retain a part from each part of the process. EX: Progressive strip, before and after coin, before and after heat treat...

In general, it's a finished part--a part representative of the PPAP--that must be retained, unless your customer has explicit requirements to the contrary. Aside from PPAP requirements you might find it useful to retain parts from various stages of completion, but it's not required.

Here again the requirements of PPAP are essentially from a useful aspect.
If there are problems in the future you have an example of what was approved. this can be very valuable in the case of a disagreement
