I manage the web site for our local ASQ section and one of our pages lists local opportunities for jobs. We went about 7 months at the beginning of the year with no one wanting jobs posted. In the last week or so, I had to list 5 new job opportunities for quality managers, technicians and engineers. I wonder if things are beginning to turn around for those looking for jobs in quality.
BTW, here is the link for the Columbus section web site http://www.asq-columbus.org/PAGE3.asp
The jobs are in the central Ohio area for anyone who may be interested.

Hi Bill, I had been looking because I got caught in a lay-off by my employer. The 1st week of October, I got a surprise call from my employer indicating I was recalled to a new position - and actually one I like better. Unfortunately, the other employees laid off at the same time were not quite as lucky and ended up being rif'ed. Because of the recall, I haven't really been checking my local ASQ section (Pittsburgh) for job postings. Up till my recall I had been checking occasionally but the last ones they had posted were from April 2009 or earlier. I just checked their web site (wwww.asqpgh.org) amd they have 7 positions listed under quality.
If anyone is interested in checking them out, got to the site click on the members title and choose placement. They have 2 areas under placement - quality and reliability. I just looked at the quality listings.

Excellent reaffirmation of the value of local ASQ Sections! Please also note the national ASQ website (http://www.asq.org/career/) also has listings which I personally consider much more informative than the usual dreck one sees on Monster or Career Builder or similar job sites.
The primary difference is the national ASQ job listings are all vetted by ASQ before publication to assure the jobs and companies are real. Sometimes the local Sections are not as sophisticated in their approach to accepting listings.
Employers and recruiters PAY to list on the national ASQ site; usually the local Sections offer FREE listings to employers and therefore can't afford paid staff to vet the listings.
