As you already know, the ISO TS 2002 will appear at the end of March 2002 (so AIAG expects). Because I don´t want to make more rich any of them consulting guys, i ask to all of you:
Does anyone know a good book about this subject? I don´t want a package that has 20.140 procedures, etc., but a book that tells me the filosofy that the people from the ISO comititon followed. I think it makes all the work a lot simpler. I think that a book about QS is to allright, because TS is 99% QS...
Can anybody help me?

I haven't really been looking for one so I can't help. Maybe one of the other can suggest something. Are you QS registered now or are you just starting out?

I don't think there are any books yet because TS is still in final draft, in another forum thread it was stated that the final draft is dated 10/31/01. I only have a draft copy from 7/26/01. However, I do think it will be released early, possibly in late January, 2002. You'll probably see a bunch of TS2002 books published near the end of 1st quarter 2002. In the meantime, you may want to get a book on ISO 9001:2000 and/or you may want to get the gap analysis for QS to TS version 1999. It's available at:

Ok, i buy that not all the consultants are rich :biglaugh:
Although my company is only ISO 9002 certified, we need to do the jump to ISO TS 16949:2002 as soon as possible. The question is always of interpretation and the literature that i have is nothing more than a transcription of the norm.
And, as we all know, the problem is the implementation :mad: of the requesites of the standart: a question arises: with ISO 9000 we could "forget" some points (4.20, for example), with some examples to show in the audit... what about TS? I don´t think that any guy that makes such audits will be so forgiving! what do you think?

Unfortunately, some areas like statistical techniques were excluded from audits. This was not the intent if it could be applied. ISO 9001:2000 solves this problem by requiring documented evidence of exclusionary areas in the Quality Manual and on auditor's reports. Your company has dug a hole if you did not address statistical techniques in the past. With TS, you will have to have advanced levels of Statistical Techniques including a mature SPC system, CpK, measurement system analysis studies and a host of other methods. That means you will have a lot of work to do for TS.

I fully agree. QS is a WHOLE different ball game as is TS 16949.

What I meant was that in a ISO 9000 audit, the auditors werent´t very "hard" on some points of the norm... hell, I know some companies that don´t have anything on quality planing (ex. new projects, etc).
My personal opinion is that our managers don´t get it yet that the ballgame is quite diferent... but they will ;) With TS, the words "management involvement" adquire a great new meaning:ko:
