I have received a copy of TS 16949:2002. As I read through the Introduction a statment caught my attention. The document states "0.3.1 IATF Guidance to ISO/TS 16949:2002
IATF Guidance to ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a document containing recommended automotive industry practices, examples.......etc."
Does any one know where I can get a copy of this document?

You can purchase that document at AIAG when it is available, sometime in the near future.

At the rollout meeting we were told that all documents could be purchased in May. I was told last week they will not be ready until June, and they are not taking backorders. So, I guess we can try again in June.

We in India are getting this New Standard Copy since May 2002. I hope by now you must have received it. If not pl. let me know, It is available in soft copy ( MS-WORD Format). And It could be sent to you

I called AIAG last week and the guidance documents are now in stock. Their website shows prices. I believe they are hard copy only. We let our memebership lapse, so I have not ordered yet while I am waiting on our marketing people to resolve the issue.

I believe the Certification Scheme document is the "rules" for registration. Basically the new version of Appendix G, H & I from QS-9000.

This is a "must have" document. It does describe the rule and regs. for the CB. But more importantly it provides a breakdown of mandays required for new registration as well as reduced mandays for cpmpanies with existing certification.
I have received quotes from (5) different CB's for the following;
- upgrade from QS to TS
- transfer of ISO 14001 certificate

Having spent a week reviewing (4) quotes (one CB did not quote) I have found the following:
- price variation from $31,500 to $60,000,expenses not
included,
- variation in manday requirements from 9 to 13 for TS,
- variation in ISO from a transfer and audit to a complete re-
registration,
- all CB's but one required semi-annual audits. This is not a
TS requirement nor is there a benefit to the organization.
- there is no consistency in the quote packages. ex. some
break down the quote by year, some give a lump sum
three year cost. Some charge application fees, some
don't,etc.
- Some CB's also require (2) surveillance audits in the same
year that you were upgraded.

This is truly a "buyer beware" procdess.

The site is full of great ISO and QS info - including 9001, 14000, etc. If you are a Quality manager or involved in ISO, you may want to sign up for premium access which allows you to get all the training files for your use.
