When we registered for QS-9000 we got an extra note on the certificate for ISO 9000-1994 certified. Are TS-16949 and ISO 9000-2000 related enough to get certification at the same time?

View Full Version : Is TS-16949 a 2 for 1 Deal? psherwin 1st July 2002, 08:05 PM When we registered for QS-9000 we got an extra note on the certificate for ISO 9000-1994 certified. Are TS-16949 and ISO 9000-2000 related enough to get certification at the same time? Marc 2nd July 2002, 04:57 AM I would suggest that since 16949 includes ISO 9001:2000 (16949 meets and exceeds ISO 9001) that the issue is moot. Roger Eastin 2nd July 2002, 09:40 AM That's my understanding, too. If you get TS-2002, then you'll get ISO9001:2000. rak 10th July 2002, 12:55 PM I agree. JRKH 10th July 2002, 01:11 PM Howard Atkins had placed this link on the QS interpretation thread. Go to the last page and it explains that the practice of including a ISO cert with the QS cert is to be discontinued. http://Elsmar.com/Forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=34948 D.Scott 11th July 2002, 02:06 PM True - but that only applies to QS. There will no longer be an association with QS and ISO after Dec. 14, 2003. 16949 does in my understanding include ISO-9000:2000 Dave M Greenaway 12th July 2002, 07:06 AM Dave - correct. ISO/TS16949:2002 contains all the requirements of ISO9001:2000, and obviously a whole lot more. So in order to comply with TS you must be complying with ISO9001. But will the certification bodies charge you twice for two certificates ? |
