View Full Version : AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) vs. IRR (Initial Reliability Requirement)

Where can I find a source that explains the correlation between AQL (acceptable quality level - like 1.5) and IRR (initial reliability requirement - like 95%) in acceptance sampling? It seems I remember coming across a cross-reference chart at some point some years ago, but I can't remember where.

Any takers for this...?

This one is easy. The Boeing approval guide gives the OC curves and the matched AQL and LTPD.

TMHO there is no correlation between AQL and reliability. QAL predicts the probability of a part to pass QC (conform to spec or DWG) and Reliability prdicts the probability of a system to function properly over a specified time period at specified conditions (Design).

"Design Reliability" is not what is being referred to. IRR is a special Boeing sampling plan for Boeing suppliers. The probability of acceptance is different from the 95% of the AQL sampling plans.

Could not find the cross-ref chart as mentioned in the first post, but this may be a good reference:

The Boeing document is:
