Is there a specific requirement that calls for an annual review of Control Plans, PFMEA or Process Flows?

View Full Version : Annual Review of Control Plans? Cheryl 20th September 2002, 01:47 PM Is there a specific requirement that calls for an annual review of Control Plans, PFMEA or Process Flows? Randy Stewart 20th September 2002, 02:00 PM I know of no direct requirement to review every year. Some of the items that may initiate a yearly review are: Annual Part Lay Out, Gage R&Rs, Improved Control Methods, Work Instruction changes and Process Improvement programs. With the Control Plans being a "Controlled Document" you may want to review your APQP or Doc Control procedure to see if they state a yearly review requirement. I do review ours annually due to being in prototype and having process changes all the time. You do need to review Control Plans to ensure they maintain applicability and feasibility. Bill Ryan 20th September 2002, 03:05 PM Cheryl Randy is correct - There is no requirement for annual review of Control Plan or PFMEA in QS9000 or ISO/TS 16949. The closest they come is in QS 4.2.5.2 / Ts 7.5.1.1 which basically states to review/update Control Plans (specifically) any time there is a change affecting product, process, measurement, etc. In practice, we have our internal auditing set up to audit the process using the Control Plan. We probably audit around 60% of our part numbers in one year. Also, whenever we get a customer complaint, both the PFMEA and Control Plan are "pulled out" and reviewed/updated "as necessary". It seems whenever I see an audit of the plan, there is some change that was not carried to the CP. |
