View Full Version : ISO17025 vs. ISO9001:2000 Comparison

I am currently to embark upon amending our current ISO17025 QMS to satisfy both ISO17025 and ISO9001:2000. Firstly has anyone produced a table comparing these two standards, clause by clause?

Also has anyone gone through the same process and has any tips for me? I'd appreciate any gems of wisdom you may have as the thought of it is keeping me awake at nights! :bonk:

Thanks
Steven

Steve,

If you feel like expending some time and effort, there is a table at the back of 17025 that cross-references to 9001:1994. You can then cross-reference 9001:1994 with 9001:2000. I know this is a big pain and the long way to do it.

I haven't seen any table that directly compares 17025 and 9001:2000, but I have heard rumors that ISO is considering alligning 17025 with 9001:2000. I'm not sure exactly what this means, or how this would be done, or even if it is still being considered. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Thanks Richard,

I thought of doing it this was but as you say - quite a lot of work involved. I assumed/hoped this might have been done by someone already.

I've seen something about this too. I think it was on the CEOC website. 17025 was last issued in 2000 so it wouldn't have thought it was due for review/amendment yet.

Thanks anyway for your suggestion. I suppose I'll just have to do the spadework!

Steve,

I've tried looking for a comparison of the two and haven't had any luck. I've actually started working on a comparison myself though (figured it would be nice to have).

As for the allignment issue, apparently there was a meeting on July 5th of this year to discuss it and there was a decision to make an ammendment to 17025 (I think). There is supposed to be another meeting in December (on the 12th I think).

Richard,

I have already made a start on this. I did it a few weeks ago and haven't had chance to check it for accuracy. Be warned it was done in a rush and is very basic! Still, it's a start and it may be of use to you. I don't think it says but obviously it's ISO 9001:2000 I'm using.

I'll try to attach it to this post. As I haven't done this before give me a shout if it doesn't work and I'll e-mail it instead.

Regards
Steven

Steve,

That looks pretty good. It's pretty similar to what I'm working on. I'll put mine up once it's done.

Good luck on merging the two :D
