View Full Version : Identifying and Controlling Documents of External Origin

HI!:bigwave:

I was wondering how others address 4.2.3 (f) - identifying documents of external origin. I have no problem with controlling the distribution as I list them on the Master List of Controlled Documents. My question is - do they need to be "stamped" or marked in some way?

Because our customers sometimes refer to an earlier version, say of an MPIF standard, we control multiple versions. Would I stamp them all as "controlled" or is listing the available ones and their location enough?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I consider identifying external records act the act of recognizing which documents exist, are important and implementing a control system for the important ones. For example, I have identified my supplier's requirements manual as an external document critical to my operations, so I am adopting it into my system.

It does not mean you have to stamp them external. Putting them on the master list should be sufficient. I also have a column that identifies internal/external, just for tracking purposes.
