Is there a standard for lighting requirements (output) for visual inspection areas? If there is what is the standard, so we can order, and what is the light output that is required? Thanks in advance.

My experience is that there is not one standard for lighting. However, depending on what compliance you have to work within, there may be inidvidual standards with their own requirements.

NCSLI recommended practices for calibration labs has a 100 foot candle (as I recall) recommended practice.

Some of the MIL-Standards have inspection requirements, even including the use of stereoptic (two warm lights from two different directions).

I'm sure there must be other standards out there. You may need to look into the compliance standards for your particular industry. There may be some ANSI or ASTM or ISO standards that cover specific types of inspection. In the semiconductor industry, there are JEDEC specs, and so forth.

And I don't claim to be an expert in all industries. My recommendation would be to look to the experts in your type of industry.
