View Full Version : Confused over product=service=transport

I am looking for some help on a term in the ISO/ TS 16949 standard. The connection is somewhat vague between "product" (a result of a process) and a particular "service"- transport (such as trucking companies). (see ISO 9000:2000 Terms and definitions 3.4.2 product...) The clause we are stuck on relates to 7.4 Purchasing, particularly 7.4.3.2 Supplier monitoring, as it relates to delivery.

My question is this: Are transportation companies required to register to ISO/ TS 16949? Under QS9000 they seemed to be excluded. At least they managed to exclude themselves...

:bonk:

Trucking companies CANNOT register to ISO/TS 16949. You must be a value added manufacturer or service provider (heat treat, plating, painting, etc.) of automotive parts to qualify for 16949. Warehouses, distribution, etc. are also excluded.

Trucking companies would have to be registered to ISO 9001: 2000.
