With regard to clause 1.2.2 (pg 2) of the PPAP manual 3rd Edition. I am curious to understand the definition of a "commercial" laboratory. Unfortunately, it is not stated in the glossary.

A commercial laboratory is one which is a laboratory as a business as opposed to an in-house lab.

To make the situation clearer, we currently have paint testing conducted by our paint supplier, whom have a certified laboratory on site. The service is provided free of charge. Therefore, I am working on the fact that this is not a commercial laboratory and the requirements of 1.2.2 are not applicable in this instance. Correct??????

I don't have the latest PPAP document so I don't know what 1.2.2 says, but the lab being your suppier's lab it would not be considered 'commercial'.
