Hello, everyone:

Paton Press has just published a book of mine entitled “The Continual Improvement Process: From Strategy to the Bottom Line.” The book presents a portfolio of continual improvement tools, providing explicit guidance and examples at every step of the way. Topics covered include strategic planning, development of key measures, deployment and communication of key measures, business review and analysis, process orientation, problem solving, internal auditing, and cultivating the culture of continual improvement. The overall focus of the book is on getting real results that impact the long-term success and competitiveness of the organization. This is larger and wider-ranging book than my first one on customer satisfaction, and I’m proud of the way it came out. I sincerely believe it can facilitate strategic continual improvement for just about any organization.

The book is available from the publisher's website:
http://www.patonpress.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=16176&cat=&page=&xid=5d69faa5b861c857d9c3c91874603aa2

It should be available on amazon.com soon, but it’s not there yet.

If anyone gets the book, I'll send them electronic copies of all the tools and examples that are shown. I'd also love to hear feedback of any sort on the book, as always.

Talk to you later,
Craig

Greg,

Thanks for your interest in the book. Yes, they can ship to Australia. They're not very clear on what it costs, though. On their website, thay say, "For orders outside of the U.S. and Canada, please fax or mail your order information to us. We can then provide you with an accurate price and estimated delivery time for your order." I'll drop them an email tomorrow and ask what it takes to get it over to your side of the world. If the shipping is ridiculous, I'll personally ship it myself. Thanks again for your interest, my friend. Whenever I talk to you, it seems like I'm always drinking a beer and you're always at work. Ah, the different time zones...

Thanks Craig. Actually I am on leave for three weeks and at this time (Midday) the Australian Golf Championship has just come on the TV so I too may sit back with a cold beer and rest for the afternoon

Craig,

How about providing some 'out takes' or 'excerpts' here for Cove 'regulars'?

Maybe do a few chapters or sub-sets of chapters of your book... Maybe even a Poll or two: Here's what I think this tool will do for you... Have you tried this? If so, what did it accomplish or did it not accompish anything? (You have the idea, I'm sure). :thedeal:

Excellent idea! I'll get cracking on that immediately. Thanks for the guidance. The Cove is an amazing place with amazing people.

Can we put you on the hook for a book review?

I have looked through the book and seen some interesting information. I will post a review after I have read the entire book.

I'll gladly review the book if we get it. Being on the other side of the planet sometimes has its disadavantages ;) . amazon.com would be a lot easier.

I'll try to get hold of it too, though it will probably take me a while.

(As some of you know, I'll read anything I get my hands on, anyway ;) )

This is a very good book for an introduction into CIP and also a workbook for on the floor.
I bought it for myself for ~25$ at Amazon.com. Now I wanted to buy it for my company, but the price at Amazon is at 125$ since couple of month and I can not find it at the Paton Press webpage.

Craig, is the book out of press? Are you going to publish a 2nd revision?

It would be a loss if this book would not be available for a reasonable price anymore.

Joachim,

Hello! Thanks for the gracious endorsement of the book. I was flabergasted to see it used on Amazon for $128.88, plus shipping! Jeez, I don't know if I made that much writing the thing. My understanding is that Paton Professional is getting it reprinted with a new cover (see attachment). Hopefully it will be available soon. This was one of those books that didn't fly off the shelf, but which has been a steady seller. I appreciate your interest in it. If you'd like all the tools and resources from the book as electronic files, just let me know. I'll email them to you. That goes for anybody else who's interested, also.

I have another book coming out early next year: ISO 9001 in Plain English. It will be based on the ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Jim: Thanks for finding a copy that was more reasonably priced.

Happy Holidays,
Craig

Craig,

If this book is anything like your previous articles etc.. I'm sure it's easy to read and understand. (I need all the help I can get!)Could you email me the tools from the book? Thanks and I'm glad your part of the Cove.:agree1:
