View Full Version : AS9100 Certification ASAP - Seeking Outside Help

New to the forum. Took note of all the valueable information concerning AS9100 certification.
I recently joined a company (FAA Part 145 repair station) and have been tasked with getting them AS9100 ASAP due to contractual agreements with a separate division moving in with our facility (as well as Nadcap after). I have previous experience with ISO9001:1994, but due to time constraints and lack of personnel, I am forced to look for outside help. I was wondering if anyone can make any recommendations for an outside source experienced with the FAA in the overhaul, repair, and manufacture sector, that would include integration of the FAA repair station manual, the Quality Manual, and the Procedures Manual? Any experiences with who (or who not) to consider would be greatly appreciated.

Have you worked under, and do you 'know', AS9001 or is it new to you?

I have worked under and am very familiar with ISO 9001 and 9002. I am just beginning to note the additions in the AS9100 standard.

I worked for 10 years in the FAR 21, FAR145 and JAR 145 environment. We had a separate Manufacturing QM and Repair Station IPM along with a JAR145 Appendix. We were not AS9100 since there were no customer or regulatory requirements for it at the time. Although AS 9000 was published our customers did not require it since we were under FAA surveillance. The AS9100 standard incorporates the additional FAA and aviation requirements into the ISO 9000. If you have a specific question I will offer up my 2 cents for what it's worth. I'm not a consultant so it won't cost you anything.

Also, the attached AC may be of help.

If you need a very reasonable consultant that will get you the certificate, check out these guys. I have used them, they wrote AS9100 manual, procedures, helped with instructions, provided training at a very low price. We were certified in about 4 months. It is a small consultant firm, so there prices are very reasonable. Their website is:

 Thank you very much. I will definitely get a hold of them.
Appreciate the help, and I'm sure I'll be spending a lot more time in the Cove since discovering it yesterday! So much good info. :thanx:

Well, now not only have I been tasked with obtaining AS9100 and Nadcap accredation, but I was informed today that the corporation is mandating ISO 14001 effective immediately. All I can say is that if I can pull this off in thier time frame (or even close to it), I deserve something besides my own satisfaction! To boot, in the interim since no one else at my company has an A & P but me, I have been elected to disassemble and inspect a couple of turbine engines for one of our "sister" companies. Don't mind the diversity if my plate wasn't overflowing.
Still looking for any other recommendations for reasonable consultants that will mainly help with procedures manual for AS9100. Remember, it's sunny Arizona and the weather is perfect this time of year!!! Golf on the weekends!!
Any ideas out there?

Note: the spec from Al Rosen was a big help.
Thanks Al

You might want to contact Bob Dodge at http://www.accufastconsulting.com/default.htm

PS. Since you do R&O, you might check if AS9110 would be the appropriate Model to follow, instead of AS9100.

but you can always give me a call... ;) I work as a full-time AS/QS/TS/ISO consultant. I can offer some assistance (limited) as needed or I could have someone give you a quote on rewriting/amending your current system to complaince and then offer implementation assistance.

Some of my current clients are the US Army, DOD, several airlines, more than 30 authorized FAA repair stations, and several hundred AS companies. If you are looking for references (and you should be) let me know.

Although there are many consulting firms available, I cannot verify nor negate their work. Good luck in your search - better luck in your implementation.

Drop me an email if you are interested and I'll provide you with whatever assistance I can.

Hi,

I just got two clients registered to AS9100 Rev. B and have completed the AS9100 RAB approved 5 day auditor course and am working for one of the largerst AS9100 registrars.

I worked also with a major MRO in Canada.

I can provide documentation, implementation, and training services. My rates are reasonable. I aslo have one client who I assisted with NADCAP certification.

My web page is www.colba.net/~docusys

Please contact me if you need help.

Danny why don't you go ahead and advertise yourself in the consultants thread. Put down all the applicable info and such...fill in the blanks so to speak.

It may be worth your while pardner.

Hi all - I've just received the go ahead to bring in a little help before our AS9100 registration audit.

We are currently ISO9001:2000, planning on our AS9100 desk audit in April, registration audit in May, and FAA Repair Station following later in the year. We are both an OEM and MRO supplier. Currently our main products to our aerospace customers are OEM ballnuts and ballscrews.

I'm just looking for someone to come in and look over our stuff and make sure the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed - maybe 2 or 3 visits prior to April. The job may extend farther if the consultant is also qualified to help with the FAA stuff.

Looking forward to the responses - I'd love to give the job to a cover!! :agree1:

Hey Cari,

I'm in an AS9100 Lead Auditor course right now and I'll bet the instructor may know of someone in your area. This guys is the #1 auditing and technical guru for who I work for now and if he doesn't know, nobody does. I'll get back within a day or 2 for ya...

A couple of things you can do...

1st follow this link and then click on "Aerospace Auditor" in the table http://www.rabqsa.com/internalqsa/?module=audSearch&func=search
Search under Michigan (MI). There are about half a dozen or so folks in your state that may fit the bill for you.

2nd....This person came highly recommended (he's in the link above..except for the Michigan part) by some folks I'm with this week that have used him with great success...James L. (Skip) Hardy of Louisville KY... jlhardy@earthlink.net

I don't know him but he is highly recommended by a current AS9100B registered company Q manager and some other reputable folks I can't elaborate on.

Skip is the auditor we had out here for our last ISO surveillance :agree1: - I raved about him in another thread recently. With our registration audit coming up, I'd requested an AS qualified auditor for our last ISO audit. I wanted a bit of a pre-assessment on a few things - he really is a good auditor and he did point me in the right direction on a quite a few things. Travel expenses be ****ed - we just might request him back for our registration audit so I can't have him consult.

Thanks for the leads! :agree:

Your best shot then would be to use the RABQSA list of auditors for Michigan.

it looks like Skip gets around and my leads were correct.

BTW....I may be in your part of the country in a month or 2.
