We are a wire harness manufacturer and recently received our ISO 9001:2000 certification. Now we are in need of a method of training more employees to perform process based internal auditing tasks.
Can anyone offer suggestions for IA training programs that may be purchased for use in house. I have seen several offerings but it's like trying to buy a new guitar when you re just learning how to play...which to choose.
Also we have several Hispanic employees that would make good auditors. Our total workforce is approximately 40 in the plant and 5 salaried.

I do QMS consulting in the U.S. and Mexico and have recently developed a one day, ISO9001:2000, process-based auditing course for internal auditors. It is in PowerPoint format, in Spanish. I could teach the course on site in Spanish, English, or mixed. This is not exactly what you requested but may be a good way to optimize development of your human potential on hand.

My consulting firm has done a 3 level internal audit process where level 1
is traditional systems audit (like a registrar), levels 2 and 3 are very specific
audits of individual (very detailed) processes.

By keeping the level 2 and 3 very focused the training is done in approx.
1 day. There are a lot of other benefits, especially flexibility.

As it happens I am working on
an overview of the program (in powerpoint) right now. If you want, and can
read powerpoint, have a look.

The mention of cultural issues struck a cord with me as approx. 50-60% of our workers are Hispanic and only a couple speak English well enough to converse. I plan to train these workers as auditors so it will reduce the uneasiness of the other Hispanics when being audited.
