View Full Version : 5S training Cartoons and Quality Related Powerpoint (ppt) Presentations
M. Bak 19th April 2004, 10:41 AM Dear;
I'm planning too implement 5S. Before I start I would like to give al my operators a training in 5S. An also a handbook with explanation of each pilar.
In the handbook I would like to place some cartoons for explanation of each pilar. But I can't find good examples of cartoons in my literature.
My question is the following: Does sombody knows in which book about 5S good examples are displaced? Or does sombody have good examples which he wants to share with me?
Many Thanks in advance.
Greetings.
ralphsulser 19th April 2004, 01:58 PM Here is a Power Point presentation on 5s I have found previously. Not cartoons, but a good layout slide type description.
Hope this helps you.

Marc 15th December 2004, 01:49 AM This is a very good link for several powerpoint files - like about 15 goodies. They're from the University of Durham site. It sounds like they're from a business incubator or something. Funding is from several sources, including the government {European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)}
Get them while they're hot!
*** DEAD LINK REMOVED *** and look for the files ending in .ppt
Thanks to Andrei Viorel.

kanmaniraja 22nd December 2004, 05:17 AM could not view the presentation.Only one slide is available for view.
Marc 22nd December 2004, 05:53 AM Which presentation?
Greg B 22nd December 2004, 06:13 PM Hi All,
I went to the site that Marc listed, three posts earlier, and found it to be EXCELLENT. :applause:
If you just look at the ppt files then you may miss the link at the bottom of the page.
toolkit.html ( *** DEAD LINK REMOVED *** ) takes you to and excellent page that reveals all of the ppt files plus some other gems. Look at the 'Ten Steps' under 'Improvements' for excellent FREE handouts on six sigma, lean, 5S etc. I have not looked at everything but what I have seen is very thorough and free.
Jim Howe 22nd December 2004, 09:09 PM Mark, Thanks for sharing, I found several that will be very usefull! :applause:
kirang 29th December 2004, 06:04 PM Manoj, that was good. Here is my presentation for the same. The presentation that I have used specifically for training the operators and supervisors and would not recommend the same to managers. I have used more layman terms focussing on the message instead of technical words.
Hope this helps.

I am attaching some cartoons for you use, they were Presented in our 2002 Annual 5 S convention and AOTS CUMI 5 S awrad Function. They are a a part of a case study Presenataion
Wes Bucey 9th January 2005, 02:38 PM very effective cartoons. I particularly appreciated the juxtaposition with a supermarket and its efficiency and cleanliness. I note no slogans were needed to make the point.:)
Michaelar 9th January 2005, 03:46 PM Our company believes in the 5S not only for us at our entity but at our customer sites as well.
Any site location at the customer we post our 5S Promotional Poster with our work instructions.
1. sort
2. set in order
3. shine
4. standardize
5. sustain
we have follow up checklist and audits.
I find we have no problem with the 5 S at customer sites , however internally we seem to start the 5 S program over and over again. I guess having a problem with the standardization and sustaining part.
I find people get to busy and just forget the routine of the everyday!
5S's should be a routine, just like getting up in the morning and brushing your teeth and reaching for that coffee.
I :applause: the 5S, I not only do it at work but at home as well.
smedhead 21st January 2005, 07:45 AM I just found this presentation & think it's great. I would like to use it on some of our people.
Wes Bucey 21st January 2005, 08:30 AM :bigwave: Welcome to the Cove. We hope you find what you need and, in time, have something to contribute back for the next folks to discover the Cove.
Claes Gefvenberg 21st January 2005, 08:41 AM :bigwave: Welcome to the Cove. We hope you find what you need and, in time, have something to contribute back for the next folks to discover the Cove.Ditto. Welcome, smedhead.

Red4165 2nd January 2006, 01:48 PM Hi
Our company implemented the Tracc system a couple of years ago. The invested heavily and we all worked our butts off but upon the change of a new CEO the system has come to a halt. Most of us thought that it was fantastic systemised approach to houskeeping and building teams and displaying KPI's assisting in company wide communication. We are all disappointed by the non-continuance of our new standards with corporate resourcing etc. We are still conducting monthly 5s audits though and will continue with maintaining our new standards. The factory has never looked better!!!!! I attended a conference last year and will attempt to attach a draft of a basic report on my feedback. We visited a couple of sites that have also implemented TRACC (one of the modules is 5s)the other modules include VPM (Visual Performance Measurement) teamwork and quite a few others that I can't remember at this time of the morning. Anyway, I will try to attach this oc for you. You may find it useful in seeing how other companies have implemented the system and what challenges they face.
Regards
JJ

dallison3 20th July 2006, 08:20 PM Does anyone have a generic training powerpoint for 5s covering the topic for those who have no knowledge of it through implementation and maintenance? I need to train some people who have had no previous training and must implement and maintain after around 2 days of training.
Shekhar 21st July 2006, 02:42 AM The attached file could be sufficient for training.
Here main thrust should be on learning & doing. So it is best to go through material on first 's' & then they acually work on it. So they learn more by doing.
dallison3 21st July 2006, 10:35 AM Good powerpoint presentation. I now need to find some templates for the actual work.
thank you

Q-Skills includes a 5S animation as part of it's Lean training module.
It also has an animated Lean simulation based on customers arriving at two teller windows in a bank. The number of customers, and each teller Touch Time can be varied by the student. Various plots are created, including one showing Little's Law. The student is asked various questions about the exercise.

It's apparent that you did not even read through this thread. You are sitting on a pot of gold. See attachments of the following post in this thread - Post #2,3,6,15,28. Audit forms are available in some other 5s thread - use the search function. Otherwise go to 'more free files' at the top of this page. Click on it, it's in the first page.

Maheshi 18th September 2007, 01:28 AM Hi,
I was just wondering if you managed to find any cartoon related presentations / attachments in 5S ??
I'm helping out a poor village school which has students below the age of 10. I am thinking of doing a small introduction to these small kids on 5S in a very non-complicated way to make them practise how to be clean & tidy....but didn't come across anything interesting...Please let me know if you have any luck!!!!

Hi Maheshi,
This may not exactly what you're looking for but it may give you some ideas. In the US, the ASQ (American Society for Quality) started an initiative to help kids to become interested in quality. The initiative is called "Koalaty Kids." Here is a listing of websites (from google) where you may get some ideas.

You can do a search on the "Post Attachments List (http://elsmar.com/Forums/fileslist.php)" on "5s" or "5-s" or "checklist."
Give it a try, you'll be surprised! :agree1:
