View Full Version : Substance reporting for PPAP GMW 3059
Mike Murphy 10th February 2000, 05:40 PM Hi all,
GMW3059. I recently found out after a recent visit to Flint, MI, that GMW3059 is now replacing, or has been replacing, GM1000M.
Is this a new form? What did I miss?
Where can I get a copy of this form? Or, does anyone out there have a copy?
HELP!!!
Michael Murphy
------------------
Marc 10th February 2000, 05:46 PM I am not familiar with them. What's the title of GM1000M?
Mike Murphy 10th February 2000, 06:06 PM Hi Marc,
GM1000M is the Toxic & Hazardous substance report that is usually submitted as part of the PPAP,........when requested. It was recently announced that it had changed to GMW3059.
Hope this helps?

Marc 10th February 2000, 06:43 PM Can't help you here - maybe one of the others can. Sorry.
Laura M 10th February 2000, 10:06 PM GM1000 was one of those secret requirements for PPAP. PPAP never mentioned it...kind-of bass-ackwards, you had to read GM1000 to know about it being required for PPAP. And if you're a supplier, you don't even know GM1000 exists. Part drawings are supposed to indicated "GM1000 restricted and reportable" or something like that. Don't know about the new form and the GMsupplier website search resulted in nothing. I'd check with you GM engineer. I think this was an engineering procedure...so getting it to the guys who make the parts didn't always happen. Would like to know if anyone finds the new form. I never found GM1000 electronically...usually used a copy of a copy of a fax!!!!
billsfan 14th February 2000, 12:53 PM Hi all,
I do have a copy of GMW3059 (took an act of God to get it!) I am in the process of scanning it to a disc & will try to provide it for all of you, if you provide an e-mail address.
Good thing we have each other, eh?
Good luck...and may the force be with you!
Marc 14th February 2000, 02:24 PM Send a copy to me and I'll post it in the pdf_files directory.
Mike Murphy 14th February 2000, 03:04 PM Thanks Laura for the background info. From what I gathered GMW3059 went into effect in March of 1999. Did anyone actually hear about it back around that time?
Thanks to 'billsfan' for handling that act of God and finding GMW3059 and to Marc for offering to post it in the 'pdf' files directory.
I will be waiting!!
Michael Murphy
billsfan 14th February 2000, 03:35 PM Marc,
Please send me a fax number. That should be easier for me to send.
Thanks!

Thanks!513 7773394 - same as voice. Just send it as you would any automatic FAX - my system will hear the tone and route it to my fax.
Laura M 14th February 2000, 09:09 PM You'd kindof expect it to be in the Additional Customer requirements section of QS. I haven't been with a Tier 1 since March '99, but had no info on it before I left. I'll call my old colleagues and see what they know.
Howard Atkins 15th February 2000, 06:59 AM Please post it when you have it.
Thanks
Marc 15th February 2000, 07:05 AM I have 19 files with the extension .fxr that were e-mailed to me. I'll post them in the pdf_files directory, but I have no idea what program will read the files.
billsfan 15th February 2000, 11:07 AM Marc,
I just sent you a 21 page fax.
I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Hope it comes through O.K.
If not, I could mail you a copy.
By the time we get copies distributed,
GM will change the spec!
Later dudes....
Marc 15th February 2000, 11:38 AM The FAX came through fine, but I really can't post it. The Winfax files are posted in the pdf_files directory - I expect anyone with Winfax can download them and open them.
To make things real simple, where did you get the copy (original?) you have?
billsfan 15th February 2000, 12:12 PM Marc,
I got my copy from Joyce Sheffield, PPAP Coordinator, Purchasing - Supplier Quality.
(Delphi-E Anderson,In.)
If you can get fax numbers for everyone that would like a copy, I would be happy to fax copies to everyone.
Let me know if I can be of help.
Marc 15th February 2000, 12:24 PM The best way to answer is to say:
Everyone who wants a copy --> leave a FAX number!
Secondarily, if you have a phone number for the gal you got your copy from, folks can call and get an original, no?
billsfan 15th February 2000, 04:47 PM Marc,
Thanks for the advise.
I checked with my Delpi contact, she said they had some difficulty making the GMW 3059 available electronically, so they sent copies out via mail. She advised that you check with your SQA at Delphi-E for a copy.
I am willing to fax copies to all that provide a fax number. Or my Delphi contact has offered the same. I must warn you, it's 21 pages (with my cover sheet.)
My contact;
Joyce Sheffield

Mike Murphy 15th February 2000, 05:10 PM "I am willing to fax copies to all that provide a fax number." (billsfan)
I'm not going to refuse.
Here is my fax number: 864-457-7111
Marc. Got the files from the pdf directory and as anticipated I had some difficulty opening the files but I have not given up yet. I will open them, even if it.....
OK., let me calm down now.
Talk later.
Thanks dudes.
Laura M 16th February 2000, 08:27 AM I just heard from my Delphi contacts that the GM1000 is still being used, with the other form released, but not required until 2003 MY parts? Something about the reportable materials requirements change, relative to the products they produce? (The person I talked to didn't have the whole scoop other than they didn't need to do it yet) Maybe the government requirements on what requires reporting are changing and thats when this form needs to be used. I should be able to get a copy of the procedure and form, but I don't think they'll be electronic.
Marc 16th February 2000, 08:57 AM I wonder how the recent ISO14001 requirement plays into this...
Mike Murphy 16th February 2000, 11:18 AM Just received your fax. Thanks!
i received notification this morning stating "GMW3059 will be required for all parts , both new and carry over, effective model year 2003."
It also states that a deviation must be sought if the carry over product cannot meet GMW3059 before model year 2003.
Yes Marc, I'm sure this is tying in somewhere with ISO14000 and GM's requirements for supplier conformance to 14K by Dec. 2002. After all, model year 2003 production is not that far off in the future.
Later!!

jharding 21st February 2000, 12:52 PM Subscribers to GM plastic materials specifications have seen, over and over again, the statement about GMW3059 replacing GM1000M. Unfortunately, they did not include GMW3059 in the GMP subscription service. Apparently, one has to subscribe to the so-called "world" specs which are now in their infancy. I obtained my copy of GMW3059 from Global Standards. One can order a copy quickly from their website.

The files in the pdf_files directory are from a windows FAX program, but I am not sure what FAX program.
I don't recognize the extension - but being a Mac person, since we don't use extensions, that's not surprising. If you're a PC person and you don't recognize the extension, it is probable that you don't have the right program.
This thread tells you where to go to get it, including Global.
ALM 2nd May 2000, 11:12 AM I have what is termed a "C-1000" form that was sent to me from a Delphi Engineer that replaced the "GM-1000" last year.
I wonder if they are one-in-the-same?
I created my own in MS Word that replicates the fax that they sent me.
Mike Murphy 2nd May 2000, 12:12 PM Hi ALM,
Is your C-1000 a CTCT Substance Report and Conformance Form?
This is what we were instructed to use as part of our submissions.
Later!
Mike
Marc 29th August 2000, 01:49 AM Did anyone ever find this in pdf (Acrobat Reader) format???
Egomez 1st September 2000, 06:40 PM I received the GMW3059 spec in Word format from my GM Engineering contact, we have been required to supply it as of now...
I also have the GM letter in Word notifying suppliers of this change.
If I could be told how to post them, I gladly will. Hope this helps someone...

Howard Atkins 9th January 2001, 02:03 AM I have received a letter from Delphi explaning that DX00008 is GMW3069.
I have sent the letter and the files to Marc for publishing.
Donna Rosenberger 11th February 2001, 04:32 PM I too adquired my GMW3059 from Global Engineering Documents. They send you a notice when it is revised. It has been updated twice since I got it. That's 30 bucks a pop. I'm in the wrong business!
PPAP QUEEN 1st May 2001, 05:55 PM GM has a website devoted to GMW3059. You may order the specificaton and / or a video that explains the specification. You may also obtain contact information.
Just go to www.gmw3059.com (http://www.gmw3059.com)
Hope this helps someone!
Howard Atkins 2nd May 2001, 01:40 AM Thanks a lot

Thanks for the information, but Forum3/HTML/00134.html are referring to this forum for the answer?
I've just tried the EPA website but find it very confussing, perhaps because I'm English and don't understand the format of this website
What I need is a "pin-point" address if one exists!!
Thanks
Dave
Admin note: If you are referred to an old post in the old UBB forums, look for the thread title there and do a search in these forums for the thread title.
